Sometimes, you feel like running away to a different world. And sometimes, all you need to do to achieve that is press a button. There are more than one million games available today on different platforms, so there is no reason for you to think that you can’t find one for yourself.

Beautiful scenery, great character arcs, and the possibility to turn off the real world whenever you want are probably the main reasons you started gaming in the first place. And in case you were too busy to check out the best games of 2020 (already launched or in beta), here’s a brief overview.

Web Browser

Web browser games are easily accessible. Plus, with a good WiFi connection, you can enjoy a variety of online games without any expensive gaming consoles. One of the best web browser games in 2020 is Slither.io. It’s a fun game for killing time, and it reminisces of the famous Nokia snake game. The principle is the same — you’re a snake that eats glowing dots, grows, and runs away from enemies.

Mobile

Whether you’re an Android or iOS user, mobile games are a great way to have fun no matter where you are. One of the best mobile games to come in 2020 is League of Legends: Wild Rift. It’s a multiplayer battle arena where you take the role of a “summoner” and control a “champion” in a battle against a team of other real-life or computer-generated players, with a goal to destroy the heart of their base, called Nexus. It will soon be available in the Google Play store.

PC

If you’re a fan of the Counter-Strike-type of games, Valorant might be your next go-to. This character-based tactical shooter lets you pick an armed Agent and play rounds that can last anywhere between 10 seconds and a few minutes. You can choose a map and develop team strategies on how you’ll beat the other team.

Nintendo

Exploring a cute island in real-time and growing a community of cute animals has never been easier with Animal Crossing: New Horizons. You can also catch insects and fish or gather and craft items that you need for upgrading your island. If you need a paradise getaway, you’ll love this game.

PlayStation

The Last of Us Part II was launched in June 2020 and is already on the top lists for the year. In this action-adventure game, you control Ellie, a 19-year-old girl, in the post-apocalyptic US. As Ellie, you come in conflict with a mysterious cult, but you also have to defeat enemies and fight cannibalistic creatures.

Virtual Reality

In case you’ve got all the necessary gear for playing VR games, here’s the winner for 2020 – Half-Life: Alyx. As Alyx Vance, you’re humanity’s only hope for survival. And you must fight against an evil alien race called Combine. This VR first-person shooter is set between the events of Half-Life and Half-Life 2.

Summary

The variety of games that 2020 offers is excellent, as there’s something for every gamer out there, from web browser games to virtual reality FPS. Of course, the list doesn’t stop here, and it’s up to you to explore the realms and remember — real gamers don’t care about the platform but the experience of the game.
